Celebrating excellence: How the 2024 AE Awards are shaping the future of the profession

Oct 11, 2024 | Events

The 2024 Accounting Excellence Awards were a night to remember, showcasing the very best in the accounting profession. Held at London’s Roundhouse, the event celebrated individuals and firms pushing boundaries in innovation, client service, and growth. Hosted by comedian Rob Beckett, the evening brought together trailblazers who are redefining what excellence in accountancy looks like.

Congratulations to all those shortlisted and, of course, the winners. But as this year’s event made clear, the Accounting Excellence Awards are about much more than taking home a trophy. They celebrate a collective effort to elevate the profession, drive positive change, and inspire others.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the John Stokdyk Outstanding Contribution Award to tax campaigner Dan Neidle. Recognised for his relentless efforts to expose tax avoidance and improve tax policy, Neidle’s acceptance speech via video link was a call to action. He urged professionals to use their expertise to contribute to public debate on tax issues, reminding us all that the profession plays a crucial role in ensuring tax justice.

The energy in the room reflected a shared ambition to raise standards across the board. As AccountingWEB editorial director Joanne Birtwistle aptly put it, “You are the trailblazers raising the bar for everyone else.” Many attendees echoed this sentiment, seeing the night as not just a recognition of their achievements but an inspiration to continue driving the profession forward.

Among the big winners were Bishop Fleming, who took home four awards, including Large Firm of the Year and Employer of the Year. Kreston Reeves and Kennedy Accountancy also had multiple wins, while the small firm categories saw fierce competition, with Ocelot Accounting and Byrd + Link standing out for their commitment to client service and growth.

In addition to recognising individual and firm achievements, the awards highlighted the importance of collaboration and shared expertise. Whether you took home an award or were shortlisted, your dedication to innovation and client care is helping to shape the future of the profession.

The Accounting Excellence Awards continue to be a key event in the accounting calendar, not just for celebrating success but for setting a vision for the future. Congratulations to all those who took part – you are the inspiration for the next generation of accountants.
